    Wildland firefighters work tirelessly to combat wildfires and mitigate their destructive effects. They are people of exceptional skill, training, and dedication. Thank you, @JosephMLombardo for recognizing them through this proclamation. @NevDCNR #NWFFD
    WHEREAS, wildfire significantly impacts Nevada’s environmental, economic and social well-being; and

WHEREAS, wildland firefighters work tirelessly to combat wildfires and mitigate their destructive effects; and

WHEREAS, these brave men and women face extreme physical challenges and hazardous conditions, putting their lives at risk to safeguard lives, property, and the environment; and

WHEREAS, their exceptional skills, training, and expertise in fire suppression, prevention, and management play a vital role in preserving Nevada’s ecosystems, promoting forest health, and maintaining the balance of nature; and

WHEREAS, wildland firefighters demonstrate unwavering dedication not only during the active fire season but also through year-round training, preparedness efforts, and community education;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim July 2, 2023 as

WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER DAY IN NEVADA

    The Nevada Division of Forestry's wildland firefighting assets have been responding to incidents in Nevada and out of state. All hands, all lands. @NevDCNR @JosephMLombardo
    This map of the United States summarizes the locations where the Nevada Division of Forestry has sent firefighting assets during the 2023 fire season. The information covers the period of May to August 2023. States where assets have been deployed are colored in green. They are Nevada, Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

Information is current as of August 19.
