This is Bowling, between Dalmuir and Helensburgh/Balloch where we took the proactive decision to close the line, given the extreme rainfall we’re seeing in this area today. @ScotRail @CalSleeper @GBRailfreight

While we working in the area, we grabbed this shot of the #Glenfinnan viaduct – an engineering marvel and one of the most iconic structures on our railway network #Scotland

Here’s the state of play at Dalmuir Twin Tunnels. As you can see, the water level is massive – it’s up to around the window level on a train. The fixed pumps here have been completely overwhelmed by the extreme rainfall. It'll take time for this to clear once the rain stops.

We’ve had to close the Yoker line between Clydebank and Dalmuir due to flooding above the rails at the Dalmuir twin-tunnels. Our pumps in the tunnels are working but have been overwhelmed by the volume of water.

Two drinking water fountains have been installed at each station to encourage people to refill their multiple use water bottles on the go rather than buying plastic ones. It is expected each location will save up to 1,000 plastic bottles per week #Edinburgh #Glasgow #plasticfree

🚂❄️ Preparations are underway for teams who will work through the night to clear fallen snow along the Far North line, they do this by sending a plough train to push the snow clear of the route. Here's a previous video of one of our ploughs in action, showing you how it's done.

Due to flooding at Achnasheen between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh, we’ve had to close the line until engineers can inspect the track. Here’s the conditions we’re dealing with there at the moment.

👷⚡️ Our team at Kilwinning have shared this photo of the considerable damage done to one of our overhead line structures, caused by a fallen tree. We're now assessing what needs to be done to repair it and reopen the railway for @ScotRail services. More soon.

We are working alongside the emergency services to respond to an incident involving a train near Stonehaven. It is too early to confirm the exact nature and severity of the incident and more details will be made available once known.
