You know, I’ve been in the software development business for more than 40 years now, and there is one thing that I know for a solid fact: Nobody knows how to build software. Yes, sometimes it gets built, but it’s a random, unrepeatable event. A lucky accident.
It’s called “cannabis.” That’s the name to use. “Marijuana” is Mexican slang propagated years ago by a racist Fed Bureau of Narcotics in a (successful) effort to stigmatize both Mexicans and cannabis. Call it by its name.
When I started programming, it was a solo skill, performed by individuals, with little or no sharing and virtually no collaboration. A culture was built around those facts. 1
Personas are discovered in the field, not invented in the lab. They have goals & motivations & a realistic name. ALWAYS use their name. Once you have one, never say “user” again. Have very few of them (3 MAX). Design by role-playing as the persona. Make the persona happy.
