    Day Three of the Training of Trainers for the Induction of Local Government Councils leaders is continuing in Masaka, as participants engage in sessions aimed at strengthening their capacity to facilitate the induction of newly elected Local Government leaders. #LCInduction2026
    sessions have featured presentations, interactive discussions and practical exercises, with participants engaging facilitators on key aspects of Local Government leadership, roles and responsibilities, governance and service delivery.

    The Ministry of Local Government has presented the proposed Local Economic Growth Support Phase II (LEGS II) project to the Top Technical Committee of the (MoFPED), as preparations continue towards its approval. #LEGSPHASEII
    The presentation was led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, accompanied by the Ministry’s technical team comprising the Project Support Team(PST), Planning Division and Local Economic Department (LED). The proposed five-year project is valued at EUR 105.29 million, financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), with EUR 2.16 million in counterpart funding. LEGS II will build on the achievements of the first phase by expanding support for local economic development, particularly in agriculture, rural infrastructure, access to finance and market linkages. The project will cover 63 districts across sub-regions including Busoga, Bukedi, Bugisu, Teso, Karamoja, West Nile, Acholi and Bunyoro, as well as selected districts in other parts of the country.“LEGS II presents an opportunity to consolidate what has been achieved under the first phase and extend these interventions to more communities, with a focus on improving livelihoods and strengthening local economic

    The @MoLGUganda & United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held discussions on the Local Economic Growth Support Phase II (LEGS II) Project, including updates on its appraisal &preparation,as well as progress under the ongoing Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project
    The discussions also covered the roll-out of the Market Vendor Management System, construction of markets, strengthening of trade rights, justice and inclusion, and Government Development Financing, with emphasis on improving coordination and advancing inclusive local economic development. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Local Government Headquarters and chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ben Kumumanya. It brought together officials from the United Nations Development Programme and Commissioners from the Ministry to assess progress, address emerging priorities and strengthen collaboration towards improved local government service delivery.
