This allegory is exceedingly apt for our modern American life. We tolerate so much, and cater to so willingly, our lowest common denominator. Instead of rewarding excellence and good behavior, we incentivize disobedience and lawlessness.

Look at what many said about “CitiBike Karen”, she’s an “entitled white bitch”, who tried to get “young Black men killed” doesn’t mind her address being posted publicly 43k likes. These are evil, hateful and yes, racist people.

You realize that this comes off as you having just as much animus for a racial group as the people you’re maligning right? It’s not 2015 anymore, when people hear this rhetoric, about “mediocre white people”, that’s also problematic.

In light of recent events in Kansas City, does the media truly selectively focus on white criminals over POC ones? Yes, seemingly so. A murderer's race is mentioned 4x more often if he is white rather than black. 1/6

The notion that "poverty causes crime" invoked to excuse poor people from responsibility is not new. Dostoevsky wrote about "socialists" saying the same thing, in 1866.
