I have never seen anything like this in my 31 years in criminal court. This is a person accused of murdering two people leaning over the judge’s shoulder, with no security in sight. What judges do and say in court matters to juries.

Quite the display here at George Floyd Square as folks gather together for communal healing.

In murder trials, we have multiple deputies who would never allow a person accused to get anywhere near the judge.

We built our coalition, and our coalition showed up. I am honored to serve as the next Hennepin County Attorney.

I don’t think people know the length we go to when a client is in jail to prevent the jury from knowing that fact because it is viewed as extremely prejudicial. Jurors tend to view people held in custody as being dangerous even when it means the person couldn’t afford bail.

Doctors protest the use of rubber bullets and gas, the use of which has caused serious injuries.

We built our coalition, and our coalition showed up. The community members, elected leaders, and organizations that support our campaign do not always agree with each other on every issue – but we all agree on one thing - that the status quo isn’t working. (⅓)

The defense said he moved to excuse #76 for cause because of his bias against MPD. One reason? #76 saying that he used to live near 38th and Chicago and that when a Black man was killed, MPD would drive by playing, “Another One Bites the Dust.” Let that sink in.

I watched video of the aftermath and community members humanely restrained the driver before police got there and walked him over to the police. They also tried to calm distraught witnesses. The police didn’t rescue him from an angry mob, community held him until police arrived.

A man drove into a group of protesters, killing one woman and injuring others at an Uptown Minneapolis intersection late Sunday. It occurred about 11:40 p.m. near where Winston Boogie Smith Jr. was fatally shot by law enforcement on June 3. strib.mn/3pSWMzZ

We don’t need armed police taking care of traffic infractions. Armed police use traffic stops as fishing expeditions to search for drugs and guns. They find little and create enormous racial disparities

My Twitter feed is full. Of traffic stops gone bad. When do we stop all these traffic stops? That accomplish so little and so do much harm?

As Hennepin County Attorney, I will always defend people’s right to make their own decisions about their bodies, including the right to safe, legal abortion.  I am proud to be the only candidate in this race who is endorsed by pro-choice organizations.

Why hasn’t implicit bias and procedural fairness training “fixed” the Minneapolis Police Department? Several years ago, Chief Arradondo invited me to attend implicit bias training with the police. It was me and 20 cops all day one Saturday.

Chief Arradondo testifies that recording police is not considered obstruction even if the officer doesn’t like it.
