A year after 'Why Nothing Works' and "Abundance' came out nearly simultaneously, @ezraklein, @DKThomp, and I sat down to discuss where things stand. @SearchlightInst @Watson_School @BrownUniversity @nytimes What We Got Right — and Wrong — in ‘Abundance’

The Economist with a thoughtful review of both WHY NOTHING WORKS and @ezraklein and @DKThomp's terrific new book, "Abundance." Hope you'll read both!

When you spend a decade writing a book, you can only hope for responses like this. Thanks @jasonfurman. If it's helpful to someone like you who has spent his life and career focused on driving progress, it means the toil was worthwhile.

"Why Nothing Works" by @MarcDunkelman was revelatory. I've been thinking about these issues for decades but found this book gave me an entirely new perspective that linked domains as disparate as welfare reform, antitrust and infrastructure permitting. Link to my review next:

Why is Penn Station still so disgusting? My answer: The left has over-corrected for the abuses Caro revealed in The Power Broker. Post-Robert Moses, progressives developed a cultural aversion to power. Today, champions of gov't render it incompetent.

Somehow, @pahlkadot manages to convey the message of WHY NOTHING WORKS in just a few paragraphs., while it took me a few hundred pages. I do hope you'll read the book--but if you don't have time, definitely read this! It's truly excellent.

A very thoughtful review of both WHY NOTHING WORKS and ABUNDANCE by @ezraklein and @DKThomp by @mtkonczal in @DemJournal. Absolutely right that Paul Sabin's terrific PUBLIC CITIZENS was crucial to forming the argument. Smart criticism as well.

This is such a terrific piece by @pahlkadot--gets right to heart of what should be the central question for progressives coming off the 2024 election. Democrats are the party of government--and government (in many cases) simply doesn't work.

The @FinancialTimes @FT reviews WHY NOTHING WORKS. "Although the book is based on the US experience, its assessment is equally applicable to Europe, where officials are now slowly embracing deregulation and simplification initiatives."
