We immediately investigated a concern regarding unauthorized use of artist decals in Marathon and confirmed that a former Bungie artist included these in a texture sheet that was ultimately used in-game.
We will be patching the Marathon Closed Alpha next week with several fixes and updates, including disabling mouse magnetism.
Keep the feedback coming, and help us shape Tau Ceti IV.
This issue was unknown by our existing art team, and we are still reviewing how this oversight occurred.
We take matters like this very seriously. We have reached out to @4nt1r34l to discuss this issue and are committed to do right by the artist.
To prevent similar issues in the future, we are conducting a thorough review of our in-game assets, specifically those done by the former Bungie artist, and implementing stricter checks to document all artist contributions.
We value the creativity and dedication of all artists who contribute to our games, and we are committed to doing right by them. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have fixed an issue where some Xbox players were able to access the Closed Alpha Playtest early. All players with Closed Alpha access will be able to join on April 23 at 10AM Pacific.
We have just issued 2 changes to the Closed Alpha build via server settings.
The first change should improve the experience of weapon hit-registration in very high latency situations.
Access to the Closed Alpha Playtest build on Steam expires today.
If your build is replaced by "Marathon Closed Technical Test" you'll be invited to the Tech Test.
If your access is revoked, you're still eligible to be selected.
All invited players will receive an email.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Tech Test and provided feedback! We've compiled answers to regularly occurring questions we're seeing related to access.
