Visiting villages affected by the terrible earthquake near Herat in Afghanistan. Today the EU announced an immediate support package of 3,5 million euro. With the funds from @eu_echo our humanitarian partners will provide shelter, food and medicines to people in need.

A few years ago, #rescEU was just a proposal on paper. Today, 7 planes and 1 helicopter from the EU’s joint firefighting reserves are operating in Greece. An uplifting realisation, even amid these tragic events. A big thank you to all who continue to make #rescEU reality.

The biggest ever @eu_echo humanitarian program Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) is being handed over to @eu_near this month. Since the launch of the Facility for Refugees in Turkey in 2016 we have reached more than 1,9 million Syrian beneficiaries - together with @Kizilay
