One year. One year ago, on this day, I would get a discord message that would utterly change my life. The greatest thing that ever has happened to me turned into the worst tragedy I have ever and will ever experience. She showed me what it was like to truly love somebody.

I do not know how she passed. I do not want to know. It is a case where I truly believe ignorance is bliss. But I know it wasn’t self inflicted. She was happy. This is the last picture ever taken of her, from that night. She was happy.

In the Sopranos, in relation to love and partners, Sonny has a quote: “You're only allowed 3 great ones in your lifetime, they come along like the great fighters, once every 10 years” I think she counted as all three. She was the best part of me in every way imaginable.

I don't know if I want to talk about the night I found her. I’m already emotionally broken from going through our old messages to get some of these images. Reliving how much I loved her, how good she was to me, I think she was my only chance to be happy in this lifetime.

On multiple occasions I have found myself asking if those three months were even worth it with the years of pain they will end up causing. But I know they were. I would give up the rest of my life to be able to experience just those three months again.

The spark was there immediately. Neither of us knew what it was like to have someone in such a similar world live so close. We immediately planned our first date, Saturday the 8th. I was dying of excitement, so much so I would talk to her every available moment I had until then.

I got home from my first year away at college that night. I had lived in Seattle for a year, and while trying my best that was the hardest year of my life, one where I had gotten close to taking my own life on multiple occasions. I was at rock bottom, but hopeful for the future.

When we finally met, it was perfect. We got lunch, went to PetCo (hehe), then I took her back home and... I'll never forget that night. Far and away the best night of my life. The only ones that come close are other ones spent with her. I had found my missing piece.

From then on, my life was complete and utter bliss. There were struggles at times, she had held things in her past from me because she was scared, she had struggled all her life and pushed people away and had resentments held against her for it. I knew I could help her.
