As Mayor of San Diego, I delivered real results on some of the toughest issues facing San Diego and made significant progress in reducing homelessness, even bucking the statewide trend. Now, homelessness continues to hit new records and housing is unaffordable. Our County

As a parent I’m appalled that last night our governor signed a law maintaining a 24-year-old can have sex with a 14-year-old and it not be considered predatory. An adult who commits ANY sex act on a minor 10 years younger must be registered a sex offender. Law must be changed.

Today is Small Business Saturday. California is home to over 4 million small businesses. This holiday season, shop safe and shop local to help support our economy and the over 7 million workers that help keep our small businesses going.

His kids can learn in person. But yours can’t. He can celebrate birthday parties. But you can’t. He can dine on a $350 meal at one California’s fanciest restaurants during the worst recession in generations. But you definitely can’t. Can you believe this? I can’t.

Gov. @GavinNewsom attended a birthday dinner for one of his political advisers last week with at least a dozen people from several different households, the type of gathering his administration has discouraged during the coronavirus pandemic. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…

No, police officers and fire fighters will NOT be cut first — at least not in San Diego. I would never hold out first responders as leverage to balance my budget.

Great news: the Governor heard us. San Diego beaches WILL STAY OPEN under our plan approved by lifeguards and health officials. In a time of great crisis we don't need knee-jerk policies. We need to keep a steady hand. It’s the only way to keep the public’s trust. Keep it up, SD!

It’s a new year. We need a new governor. Jobs are leaving, homelessness is skyrocketing, and the state can’t even issue unemployment checks to people struggling right now to get by. California is better than this. Join me in signing the recall petition. recallgavin2020.com

Kids should never have to live on the streets, especially during a pandemic. San Diego took an old motel, rehabilitated it, and during #COVID19 will use it to help homeless families and children stay safe. Thank you @MaraWElliott for your partnership. sandiego.gov/mayor/news/rel…

Our small businesses aren’t being treated fairly. Restaurants made good faith efforts to comply with COVID rules. Now the rules are changing once again. If the Governor shuts restaurants down, it’s only right the state compensates them for the costs incurred moving outdoors.

San Diegans have been following the rules set by our public health officials and lifeguards since beaches reopened this week. A sudden state ban on every single beach — regardless of the facts on the ground — sends the wrong message to regions where people are acting responsibly.

You stayed classy, San Diego. When other beaches across the U.S. have reopened, the nation saw pandemonium. Today, the nation saw San Diego acting like America’s Finest City. So many of you followed lifeguard and public health guidelines. Let's keep it up. bit.ly/2Y6xe6C

California has so much promise. But Gavin Newsom's broken promises have become our problems. His leadership is failing our state. It's time for the California Comeback. I'm excited to officially launch my campaign for Governor. Join me.

This is unbelievable. State inmates get COVID, they’re transferred to a larger prison without adequate testing, it sparks a huge outbreak, and now 8,000 prisoners are being released into communities — while still potentially infected. None of this is appropriate or acceptable.

Awesome job out there on the beach today, San Diego! Way to keep it moving and keep that physical distance!
