I was just denied entry into Canada (land border) because I did not fill out the ArriveCap app. Had all necessary paperwork. Officer decided I needed a 5,000$ fine since 'App is mandatory' "I am not denying you entry. Just giving you a $5,000 fine" The faceless bureaucracy

I still find it baffling why being anti-lockdown and anti-mandate is not a mainstream leftist position. Imagine this was 1960. What an interesting shift in our political sensibilities: that "freedom" is a now pejorative term, associated with conservatives

📢Read our new paper: Analysis suggests Covid-19 boosters likely to cause a net clinical harm to young adults(18-29 yr), where total severe adverse events (SAEs) will outweigh Covid hospitalizations averted Booster mandates are unethical because:1/13🧵 jme.bmj.com/content/early/…

Canada's Justin Trudeau on the unvaccinated: “They don’t believe in science/progress and are very often misogynistic and racist....This leads us, as a leader and as a country, to make a choice: Do we tolerate these people?"

Shanghai is a proper lockdown. A full lockdown. A statist lockdown. A "you-can-not-get-more-locked-down-than-this" lockdown. It is an epidemiological, political & social failure. Stop the zero covid nonsense: please reflect on your prior position advocating for this approach

An unvaccinated friend (who had COVID-19) is looking for a therapist to deal with some serious mental health & family issues. The therapist turned them down because they are unvaccinated: "We do not want unvaccinated people as clients." This problem is not going away

I decided to not enter. As far as I am concerned, I was just denied entry into Canada (I am a citizen) because some middle bureaucrat wanted to flex his muscle. The pandemic has provided lots of opportunity for individuals to play micro-power games, supporting useless rules.

The side story (which always makes people gasps in confusion) is: I actually do not own a cell phone. I have some neo-luddite tendencies. 4 years now. Much happier without one. Albeit driving requires physical maps, memory and the willingness to ask for directions (no GPS too).🤣

Western media representations: Protesters in Ottawa against vaccine mandates, Feb 2022: "far-right racist Trump-supporting extremists" Protesters in China against zero covid, Nov 2022: "brave young people fighting a cruel autocracy." Funny that

We wanted to wish Oma a happy 91th B-day. Spur of the moment decision to cross, & thought with restrictions being removed it would be easy. I have crossed US-Canada border many times over the pandemic (maybe 10?, for many diff reasons). First time I was threatened with a fine

It took >1.5 years for this issue to become mainstream. Yet we are still mandating boosters for university students, without a convincing risk benefit ratio, see: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf… nbcnews.com/health/health-…

I asked senior European epidemiologists this week about the evidence that community masking stops C19 transmission, and they were like: "The evidence is pretty weak. Maybe in some settings. With high-risk people. It's so weird how political masking became." They have no idea
