    Jude's point, if you care about the intentions of the Biblical authors, is that at Jesus' second coming he will destroy the wicked as he did throughout Israel's history. Jude is not saying Christians shouldn't listen to the teachings of Jesus. Your solution to this tension

    The rod given to believers is obviously eschatological. In the book of Revelation, the churches are persecuted by the nations but Jesus is returning "soon."

    The word "neighbor" never means "fellow human" in the Bible. It always refers to a kinsman, whether Jewish or Christian, and the concept assumes that such people should feel a familial affection for each other.
