Low key, empathy is Batman’s superpower. He had the worst day anyone’s ever had and he’s never stopped thinking about it. He’s devoted his life to try to stop it happening to *you.*

I think the reason the whole "Batman is a fascist" narrative doesn't work for me is because I grew up with media that hammered in, again and again, that he is so deeply kind

The reason no one “gets” Batman is everyone forgets he has a surrogate Mom who devoted her entire life to helping the poor and traumatized. Even after Bruce probably offered to make her a millionaire like a hundred times.

Everyone remembers *this* guy who taught him about acting and war. Nobody ever remembers the woman on the right, who taught him never to compromise his values and how to lead with his whole ass heart.

But Batman can empathize with you at your lowest moment. Offer a hand to guide you out of the darkness. Because he’s been there before. And he knows there’s a way out.

Superman can lift you up and give you a template for how to be a hero. All that power and the guy chooses to be good? That means any of us can do it.

That’s why I will also never accept the “Batman is mentally ill” take. It’s not crazy to do what he does. It’s heroic. And it matches his damage in just the right way that it’s cathartic.

He’s still a young boy getting to act out his Zorro fantasies. But with an *adult’s* sense of responsibility.

Batman’s behavior is abnormal. Maybe even spectrum. Because everyone processes trauma differently. But he has absolutely processed that trauma and put it behind him. Used it to build him into the man he is now. Because if he didn’t…

… if he’s still running around on rooftops in his 30s with his shit undealth with… He’d be an asshole. And I don’t think Batman should *be* an asshole.

This man's "crime" was suing a corporation and winning a judgement against them amounting to millions of dollars in fines for the illegal dumping of black, cancer-causing oil sludge in Ecuador. Next to indigenous people who got sick and died. But he's the one in prison.

THREAD: Steven Donziger is now sitting in prison because of Chevron's brutal retaliation against him for winning a settlement for people Chevron polluted. PLEASE take just a few minutes and help fight back in just a few easy steps:

I’m sooo tired of lazy brosocialists tweeting out bullshit. 🙄 If this kid is so passionate about how the party should organize, why not run for a leadership position???

Any Democrat who supports this war with Iran needs to be primaried. Our generation grew up going through two multi trillion dollar wars we should have never been involved in. We are not fucking going back to that. If you think this is a good idea read a history book.

This is fair. Many people read Malcolm Gladwell thinking he’s a social scientist.
