    Despite pandemic, we did our 16th and 17th #DCDHeart transplants this week. All are doing well. If we can extend this to more centers the goal of expanding the donor pool by 30% is achievable. @DukeHeartCenter @DukeCTSurgery #DonateLife @AshShahMD @JasonWSmithMD

    Today is my birthday. Half of my life ago, at age 24, there were serious concerns I may not make it to 25. I thought there was no chance. Thank you to my parents who always stood by me, and @cloues_sarah, my sister, who put up with my bullshit and watched over me for many years!

    People say temp MCS used to game 🫀allocation. Thus far this week at @DukeHeartCenter: 5 🫀tx All status 4s Match sequences 135, 189, 44, 49, 35 (National ave is 3!!!) 4/5 all other centers coded out. All patients doing well @DukeHrtFailure expanding 🫀donor pool! Rule 76…

    In 10 months US #DCDHeart trial finished enrolling 90 successful DCD transplants. Standard of care control arm lagging behind, with approx 70 HTx... doesn’t that say it all? @DukeHeartCenter leading the way with 34 DCDs!!! Expand Donor Pool, Expand. #DonateLife

    An amazing effort that involved hundreds of people to get a person from cardiac arrest to ECMO to ECMO/Impella to Carmat to heart transplant. @DukeHeartCenter is the best. Everyday I get up and come to work excited to see how we are going to find new ways save more lives.

    Matthew Moore has a new heart after living 4 months without a human heart beating in his chest. @DukeCTSurgery transplant surgeons performed the #HeartTransplant 11/22, swapping out the artificial heart that kept him alive. @DukeHrtFailure | @DukeHeartCenter | @DukeHospital

    In May @DukeHeartCenter @DukeCTSurgery did 1st multiorgan DCD involving heart tx (h/kidney) in North America!!! Thx to @sarahcasi & @_adevore for pushing this through & as always @benbryner for his hard work with me getting 3 DCDs done that week. Pt doing great. #DonateLife

    1 of this things I love about it being 2019??? I turn on @espn @SarahSpain & @minakimes are all over it. 2 of the most interesting & insightful sportswriters, regardless of gender. We have a long way to go w/ gender equality, but makes me think my Hazel and Aggie have a shot

    Update- @DukeHeartCenter’s week: 8🫀tx- 6 status 4, 2 status 3 Minimal interest from other centers for those donors. Xenotransplant is amazing & will be a big part of the future. But we have the hearts we need. RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. @_adevore @heartdoc_chet @robmentz
