Turned 64 today. That means 43.5 years from my first cancer diagnosis. Passion for drug discovery remains unabated. Thanks to great coworkers and collaborators, progress is being made. I am in their debt and to all who have supported me over the years. Thanks!

Happy to be alive and to have reached age 65. There have been times where attaining this milestone looked frankly improbable. Thanks to all — family, friends, mentors, colleagues, coworkers, collaborators, medical professionals, etc. — who made it possible!

A great joy to meet up with “the boss”, Jean-Marie Lehn for science, food, and wine. Hard to imagine I left Labo Lehn in 1984–38 years ago. Neither of us has aged a wink!

Thanks to all for the many kind Tweets about the Breslow Award. Honored to help celebrate the Breslow legacy. Of course, the credit goes to my mentors, research group, collaborators, friends, colleagues, family, and broad circle of supporters. I am in your debt.

Pleased to have my 15 seconds of virtual fame at the ACS Awards Ceremony. So many amazing awardees being recognized. Particularly inspiring is the large number of non-US awardees. As @sirfrasersays has noted “Science should have no boundaries.”

Sign of impending old age: My 750th paper (DOI: 10.1021/acs.inorgchem.9b00570) just published online. Obviously, a chance to thank again the community for its support and the fantastic collaborators and coworkers whose hard work has allowed me to reach this milestone.

A fun read if you have time. The latest, but hopefully not last, contribution from a long-standing collaboration with Profs. Dongho Kim and Xian-Sheng Ke and their groups: Cyclic Carbaporphyrin Arrays | Journal of the American Chemical Society

Key professional milestone achieved. Manuscript no. 500 reviewed for the ACS since they launched ParagonPlus. Anyone ever notice how none of us is ever a bad referee, but we’ve all been subject to poor refereeing? Non-equilibrium thermodynamics at work??

Thanks to Kwan Soo Hong, Sankar Bhuniya et al., our pH probe paper is out in Chem. Sci. 2020, DOI: 10.1039/D0SC03795H. It is no. 800 for me, a milestone that reminds me just how many wonderful coworkers, collaborators, and colleagues I’ve been lucky to work with. Grateful to all!

So honored to be feted with a celebratory dinner by Prof. Mei-Xian Wang in Beijing honor of my election as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This was a nomination he led but which was assisted a very strong support team. I’m incredibly grateful! Happy New Year!
