Death is an inevitable part of life but experiencing it with animals really teaches you things💔This 33-yr-old mare was a retiree here and she passed uneventfully in the field last night.Her pasture mates would not leave her and would nuzzle her so gently till we took her away 😢

A stress-free experience when going to the hospital is important to everyone right?? Its especially scary for foals-we try to have Moms♥️around whenever possible.This STB foal required some intense treatments for severe bone infection but a calm Mom ‘in the wings’ really helped😇

A “breakdown”injury is life-threatening but many can be repaired.It’s complicated + $$$ surgery so a big commitment.This 5yr TB was avg athlete but dearly beloved by owners❤️.A perfect patient-he’s at 30 days today and ankle fusing nicely, so on his way to new life!🙌🏻

To “love” a horse is a very different kind of feeling-unlike that w/any other animal.It’s a deep love mixed w/awe,wonder,admiration and respect for everything that a horse is.A most special and beloved filly to many-MAPLE LEAF MEL. We will never get over her here💔

General anesthesia in horses has many important components but a calm/safe recovery is critical for success.For foals we let them wake up w/mare right beside them-this filly had umbilical surgery today and had a seamless experience,partly because she felt safe w/Mom right there♥️

Who was CATNIP?? It's important to know. A very kind and intelligent horse. Lovely to be around. Strikingly tall, dark and handsome. Not one vice. Loved to run. Carrots were his weakness. Bred and raised by caring and conservative owners-had frequent visits to the farm here just

An unexpected arrival last night!! This little STB filly was born more than a week early all by herself in the field last night! Fortunately Mother Nature knew what she was doing and she’s very healthy this morning ❤️

This 3-yr-old $$ TB gelding developed a knee (slab) fracture while training this week.Repair would give fair prognosis for racing.The owner said let’s fix anyway, retire, and give him 💯 chance for unlimited 2nd career🙌🏻 YES there are plenty of #goodguysinracing🥰

A true test of ultimate patience and faith by this TB gelding’s owners…this wonderful racehorse came to us in Nov 24 for 2nd opinion.Euthanasia had been recommended by another specialist for a very complicated stifle injury-a nasty joint infection combined w/a very painful bone

Laminitis remains THE biggest challenge in equine medicine.Much remains unknown and it is so unpredictable.This TB stallion had acute laminitic crisis in July in all 4 feet-the look on his face tells it all😥We threw everything at him/was in ice boots for days.Slowly got

Sharing wonderful example of responsible horse ownership—CLYDES IMAGE was vanned off in @TheNYRA 2019 Poker Stakes w/severely ruptured flexor tendon.Sullimar Stables did EVERYTHING needed to rehab this horse.1 year later he is happy,sound,and being ridden in his home for life♥️

Horses are very social animals! We have 30-acre Retired Horse field here at the clinic - old, retired, saved from slaughter, etc type horses-our own ‘Island Of Misfit Toys’🤪. A new TB retired here and today he finally joined the herd.Once the pecking order was
