Here’s the thing. A 4 pack of Heinz spaghetti hoops from Waitrose costs £3. A single tin, on sale in a local shop in one of the most deprived areas of Merseyside is £2.39. That’s inequality.

50 years ago today my baby sister Catriona Margit Louise arrived. She didn’t stay long. I’m one of very few people who remember she existed. But I do. ❤️

Good news. No cancer found. Yay. Other things but we’ll worry about that later. BTW NHS/ GP types - I know you are beyond busy RN but when someone post cancer is waiting on biopsy results & the letter with the all clear arrives on Mon maybe don’t wait til Friday to tell patient?

A year ago today I had one hell of a day. A phone call to say I had uterine cancer & needed a radical hysterectomy in the afternoon, then won the bbc food & farming community food champion award in the evening. Am still here. And grateful for the support I found Xx

Bollox bollox bollox. GP just phoned 20 mins ago. Being referred urgently for scans at hospital following positive test result. Fingers crossed it’s nothing major but I’ll be honest, am not in a good place right now. So am drinking a Negroni in a bar, so I can feel alive.

I know I said no more feta, but I felt the need to make a spanakopita pie with spring & wild greens, filo, pecorino, feta, SHED loads of parsley, dill & mint, lemon & nutmeg. Baked in my venerable copper sauce pan, then flipped to crisp pastry top & bottom.

Supermarkets. Why in the name of all that is holy do you sell Cavolo Nero & Kales “ready chopped”?? You include the stalks. Which then makes it impossible to cook either the leaves or stalks properly. And then tastes vile. No wonder no one likes it. What idiot buyer agreed that??
