Attention all former users of Cheap Bots Done Quick: I created a similar site that should be a drop-in replacement! It uses Tracery just like CBDQ. You can even make your bot tweet things in order, and there's a tweet preview feature for testing! Thread 👇

🫠Looks like Twitter made their free-tier API even more limited: now the max number of tweets is only 500/month (17 per day?). It seems it will no longer be possible to tweet more frequently than that with a free Twitter developer account. Their next tier, Basic, is $200/month

It seems that Twitter has blocked the host the bots run on, which is why they aren't tweeting. Maybe it's accidental and they'll fix it. In case it isn't, I'll try working around the block. You can leave your bot running (they're still attempting to tweet on schedule, just being

To get your bot tweeting, all you have to do is: 1. Create a free Twitter developer account and generate API keys (don't worry, my site walks you through this). 2. Write a Tracery config. 3. Choose a tweeting frequency and press start.

Trying a potential work around. It seems to be working so far. Unless that changes, your bots should start to resume tweeting on schedule.

For those wanting to tweet more frequently, we might be able to use Twitter's internal API for that instead. But that may not work well, or may lead to your account being suspended if they detect the automation. Not familiar with how robust it is. I don't want to be responsible

What is Tracery? It's a text-generation language, written as JSON, with symbols on the left and a list of values on the right. Every time your bot generates a tweet, it begins at the origin symbol. In this simple example, your bot would randomly tweet one of two sentences.

My site is free to use, although I do ask a small amount if you require more server resources. This project is only feasible if enough people are willing to chip in to help cover the costs.

Generating your own API keys is necessary so that you can utilize your own daily tweet limit. Twitter's recent API changes imposed a severe limit on the number of tweets a single application can make, so you will be using your own API keys to tweet instead.

If you know any bots that were taken offline when CBDQ was shut down, be sure to let them know about this so that they can be resurrected!

Text replacement: If you wrap a symbol with number signs, it will be replaced by one of its values, chosen randomly. This example can generate three sentences ("This is a tweet.", "This is an amazing tweet.", "This is a cool tweet.").
