    I know that this may be an unpopular view but I feel that I have to be honest as someone who has researched in this area for 20 y. There are currently no fit for purpose evidenced based guidelines to tailor womens training or performance to different phases of the menstrual cycle

    🧵Female athletes please read: 1. The menstrual cycle does NOT have a dropsies phase 2. There is no high-quality evidence to say that your reaction time will be decreased in Phase 1 (when oestrogen and progesterone are low) & 4 (when oestrogen and progesterone are high)

    I have so much respect & admiration for @EmmaPallant ‘s handling of this comment The initial comment seems to have been posted respectfully with Emmas feelings in mind but the fact remains that ‘we’ still have a social stigma about periods in sport Time to do better! Education 🔑

    Female athletes please do not fear any phase of your menstrual cycle. World records, PBs, world cup finals, etc. have been won by women across all days of the menstrual cycle We can help with cycle-related symptoms but otherwise there is no blueprint for performance across the MC
