    India: I am very saddened to hear that Fr #StanSwamy has passed away. A defender of indigenous peoples’ rights. He was held in detention for the past 9 months. The EU had been raising his case repeatedly with authorities.

    Horrible news to learn that Indian HRD Fr. Stan Swamy is in very serious condition&was put on a ventilator last night.He's spent 9 months in jail on unfounded charges.I’m deeply saddened&expect that every possible specialist treatment will be provided to him

    Colombia: JEP indictment of FARC leaders for kidnapping, and JEP report on “falsos positivos” are important steps to truth and reconciliation. Important now to respect JEP’s independence and ensure it can continue its work in full autonomy.

    UGANDA: I’m alarmed by reports of alleged torture and incommunicado detention of author ⁦@KakwenzaRukira⁩. He remains in detention without trial, despite a court order for his unconditional release. I urge Ugandan authorities to uphold rule of law and due process.

    Colombia: Today’s act of recognition on the contents of Auto 019 is a very important step forward for victims, and for truth & reconciliation in 🇨🇴. It also demonstrates the importance of the @JEP_Colombia and the ongoing commitment of the FARC as a party to the peace agreement.

    #Ukraine: In Bucha and Irpin today, I saw the mass graves of victims of Russia’s War of Aggression, talked with the local priest who knew them, and stood in a bombed out shopping centre. War crimes, and those who commit them must be called to account.
