The bass is everything in Reggae music and Robbie Shakespeare played his bass guitar like nobody else; he made the beat drop, speaker boxes shook and we rocked. His passing is a tragic loss; his contribution to the genre is immeasurable. RIP Robbie Shakespeare.

I have been awarded the Order Of Distinction! Iโ€™m overwhelmed that the Jamaican government have seen fit to award me with such a highly distinguished honor. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine this happening, and the fact that Iโ€™m not Jamaican resonates with me even more.

RIP Daddy U Roy the iconic toaster who changed the paradigm of Jamaican music when he voiced the โ€˜Version Galoreโ€™ album ...I was always in awe of him; the tone of voice, the cadence, the lyrical shimmering and riddim riding made him โ€˜the soul adventurerโ€™ ๐ŸŽ™

Lee โ€˜Scratchโ€™ Perry has left us and the world of music has lost one if itโ€™s most enigmatic creators; an amazing, incomparable phenomenon whoโ€™s sonic sound waves transformed our lives; the โ€˜Blackboard Jungleโ€™ album alone stands as a beacon of his genius.

We have lost Millie Small, the first Jamaican artist to achieve international pop chart success in countless countries with โ€˜My Boy Lollipopโ€™. The song was so popular that it made her a household name in the UK in 1964 and blazed the way for the recognition of Ska music.
