A seat in Parliament isn’t some entitlement to be exploited for your own gratification. Being elected as an MP to serve your constituents is a huge privilege - and if you care about doing it well - is also really hard work. That’s something some MPs are yet to grasp.

The Government must block Nigel Farage’s resignation until the Standards Commissioner finishes investigating him. The people of Clacton deserve the full facts. If a by-election does go ahead, all parties should stand aside. We cannot give oxygen to this vanity project.

£5 million for Nigel Farage. £450,000 bill for the taxpayer. He could fund this by-election himself, but instead he's chosen to make the public pay for his vanity project. That money could provide free school meals for around 1,000 children for a year. Priorities.

Thanks to @wincityfc for inviting me to blow the starting whistle to kick-off their U10s Junior Tournament on Sunday. There was some incredible talent on display. Who knows, maybe we'll be seeing some of them again during the 2034 World Cup!
