Constant communication w/ Coaches, Visit Schools (x2 a year), Remembers Names (including HS office secretary), ask how/where former players ended up & are HONEST.

I am sitting in the bleachers at a high school football game for the first time in a very very long time. 3 minutes in & I cannot believe some of the things yelled at by adults toward 16-18 year old boys. They are kids.
I saw a random post the other day that said their son will probably go D3 so they can play right away. We have alumni that were former 6A All-State Players & held multiple D2 offers, fighting to make the bus at WIAC/MIAC schools. College football is hard!
A D1 Coach just called me for an athlete that is NOT in football. 25 minutes:
- Weight room work ethic
- Character in the halls/community
- Competitiveness
- Handling adversity
- How’s their family
Doesn’t matter the sport. These boxes need to be checked.
We won to advance to the Semis! For 2 weeks this group has dedicated themselves to replicating the other team as the jv season ended. This is all they did during the week. These are special young men & true “Program First” players. (Not All Pictured)
Today should serve as a lesson for every young athlete. Eventually athletics will be taken from you & as we saw today it could happen at any second. Appreciate what you get to do every day, love your team & do everything the right way.
The world lost a great man today. A unique leader that raised three incredible kids who have become great leaders in education and football. Thoughts & prayers with the entire Larson family and Somerset community.
Sad news to report tonight, as legendary Somerset football coach Bruce Larson died today at the age of 58.
Larson guided the Spartans to three state titles & three runner-up finishes and was named the Don Shula NFL National High School Coach of the Year in 2015.
