The Claremont Institute denounces the California State Bar’s decision to disbar Dr. John C. Eastman. @DrJohnEastman, founding director of our Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, is a legal scholar of the highest order, and his advocacy concerning the conspicuous

After his trip to Japan, @SpencerKlavan reminisces that America, although lacking the centuries of history that countries like Japan have, is still worth celebrating. Americans should be unabashedly proud of their heritage and culture.

Kier Starmer has resigned — now the U.K.’s sixth Prime Minister to resign in ten years.   Our hosts @SpencerKlavan & @MESabo86 react to the tossup of leadership and further distrust from the population in the United Kingdom.

Autonomous lethal weapons need to be established. Rather than being bogged down by a case-by-case basis from the military, our adversaries will not wait for the U.S. to decide regulations.   In his recent article, @WilliamThibeau defends autonomous force within our military.

Temporary Protected Status for Haitians over the decades has often involved false claims about the need for “protection,” & the intention to stay permanently. The Trump administration’s end of TPS for Haiti is a small step towards a normal, rational, and sane refugee policy.

100% correct. When I was at the Del Rio, TX Haitian bridge camp in 2021, many of the Haitians told me they had been living in Chile & Brazil for years before coming to the US illegally for economic (not safety) reasons. The Haitians were dumping & tearing up their Chilean

Many Americans misunderstand the debate about creed vs. culture. America is both, and that’s why so many get either side incorrectly.   Read Glenn Ellmers' recent article, discussing the scholarship of Harry Jaffa on the Founding’s principles.

In a 6-3 decision of Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, SCOTUS has overturned the extremely left Ninth Circuit Court’s ruling, Justice Alito asserts in his opinion that immigrants have not arrived in the United States when they are in Mexico.   This is a massive immigration win to uphold

In the concurring opinion from Justice Clarence Thomas, he adds that "the relief that the District Court provided may well have unconstitutionally infringed on the President's inherent authority to exclude aliens from the country."

Another entry in the creed vs. culture debate, now 20 years old (the text linked below predates its pub date), from Brad Watson, of @Hillsdale (and also a Senior Fellow of the @ClaremontInst). Watson, like Ellmers, makes the case for the inextricable creedal AND cultural

There is a great deal of misunderstanding on both sides of the creed vs. culture debate. America is both. My colleague Glenn Ellmers discusses the question using our late colleague Harry V. Jaffa's scholarship on the Founding as a touchstone. americanmind.org/salvo/harry-ja…

Consternation and hand-wringing exists over the standards surrounding lethal autonomy (see recent @DouthatNYT interview). But America need not let questions about this get in the way of technology dominance, for the military already has the framework to adjudicate the

TPS has long been a vehicle for de facto permanent protected status and an end-run around sensible border control and immigration policy. The most important net result of today’s decision: no more national immigration policy by lawless lower court judges.

🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court rules that courts cannot review the government’s decisions to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Syria and Haiti and says the challengers’ race‑discrimination claim is unlikely to succeed.

Another win for common sense on immigration policy from the Supreme Court. For decades, the Left has used sophistic legal arguments to get their preferred policy of de facto open borders, including abuing asylum rules. Decisions like these make that much harder. Good.

🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court rules that asylum seekers standing in Mexico have not “arrived in the United States” under immigration law, meaning they aren’t entitled to inspection or allowed to apply for asylum until they actually cross the border.
