While fans are focused on the World Cup, bag thieves are looking for chances to score on and off the pitch. VAR will be in used throughout the City and our control officers will be operating CCTV cameras from their very own Stockley Park, looking out for any foul play.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft at a store on Cheapside. Plain-clothed officers spotted the man acting suspiciously and stopped him as he came out of the shop. He had two t-shirts worth around £140 believed to have been stolen from the store.

Officers have been out on Cheapside to crackdown on shoplifting during Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action. Our efforts to tackle shoplifting, by working with retailers, obtaining CCTV and identifying and arresting thieves, has resulted in a drop in retail thefts in the City.
