Such people are so convinced (almost to clinically insane levels) of their own righteousness, they convince themselves that whatever they do is for the greater good. It's this mentality that leads to them justifying their actions internally, when everyone else thinks they are mad.

.@DailyMirror It's times like this, that a second member of staff would be useful - as opposed to driver only operation.

Hotting up at CrossCountry over leaks regarding a possible emergency timetable in May. HR has sent out a stern warning to all staff not to leak info to the press. Journalists found out about the warning after someone leaked it!

A few days ago I saw a guard guide a visually impaired passenger off his train and to the stairs, not leaving her side until he was sure she was OK. Imagine what would happen if there was no onboard or station staff.

Good news. The driver who faced a disciplinary hearing for allowing a 12 year old in the cab (deemed a terrorist threat!) has kept his job and been reeducated on the company's electronic devices policy. The relationship between HR and operational staff is now at an all time low.

I see on the X account of a certain TOC that a passenger has made a formal complaint about a press officer who refused to give up her seat for an elderly couple, claiming “these are staff seats”,only moving when ordered to do so by the train manager. PO wore her company lanyard.

Staff have informed me that a driver is facing possible dismissal for allowing a child to look in the cab during a station turn around. DSD was on and controller in neutral. Driver manager wanted to 'offer words of advice' and leave it at that, but HR got involved..........

Witnessed a big argument today. A member of rail staff (not TOC) runs across the main line (a VERY busy station) without his HV clothing, because his train home is pulling into the station. Driver blasts horn and platform staff physically restrain him from getting on the train.

A retired driver who posts pics of rail staff from the 1970s, says he has had a DM from a H&S rep at a rail company, asking him not to post pics of drivers line side (relieving a train on the man line etc) as it undermines today's safety culture.

CrossCountry says there will be an extra 28,000 seats in the May timetable. That's an awful lot of rail replacement buses! 😃
