4 years ago today, I stood for 15 hours—no food, no water and no breaks—to protect your right to vote.
Today, the fight is the same.
At the end of my filibuster I quoted Lyndon Johnson’s immortal words. I’ll let him play us out. #txlege
When Texas leaders rolled over for Trump, did they know they were sparking a nationwide movement?
We won’t go quietly. Today, leaders from 35 states rallied with us against the Texas takeover. #txlege
15 hrs ago I stood to filibuster #SB1 & give a voice to the constituents who this bill attempts to silence.
I know #VoterSuppression anywhere, is a threat to democracy everywhere.🗳
Proud to shine a light on stories of everyday Texans & stand up for the promise of democracy.
🚨BREAKING: Moments ago I submitted my intention to filibuster TX’s #VoterSuppression bill #SB1.🗳
📢SPEAK UP! How will this bill affect you, your loved ones or your #Texas community?

That dog won’t hunt.
Republicans think they can walk all over us. Today I'm going to kick back.
I’ve submitted my intention to filibuster the new congressional maps.
Going to be a long night.

Check out my op-ed in @HoustonChron:
House Democrats are being escorted round-the-clock by state troopers.
@NicoleCollier95 refused. Now she’s locked in the Capitol until she relents.
Don’t hold your breath. We just brought her some late night snacks. #txlege

I am disappointed the Office of the Secretary of State has joined other state leaders in their cynical escalation of tensions with the federal government, our necessary partner in conducting federal elections. It's absurd to assert the federal government does not have
#TxDemFilibuster – HOUR 1️⃣4️⃣.

Today on this floor, as we discuss TX’s #VoterSupression bill, we stand at one of these pivotal moments were we have a choice between preserving or diluting a right that has been fought for and died for.
