When enough is enough and stepping away is the only option. Very personal piece, put together over the past few months:

A childhood favourite moment from following Louth. @markbrennan83’s goal in the opening round of the 2006 NFL away to Cavan. The cheek!

Finally a referee is prepared to stand up and deal with Johnny Cooper’s incessant fouling. Well done David Gough. #AllIrelandFinal #DUBvKER

If Louth were in the All-Ireland final, I don't think RTÉ would show highlights of the game.

Louth's victory over Dublin in tonight's Leinster MFC semi-final means that, for the first time ever, the county will appear in the senior, U20 and minor provincial deciders. An incredible achievement and testament to the quality of coaching and dedication of the players.

Today is my last as Drogheda Independent group sports editor and, indeed, a journalist. Had a ball of a time, doing my dream job, covering the teams I love and forging relationships that will stand the test of time. Thank you. #louthandproud #cmonthetown

DkIT have notified the powers that be that they won’t be fielding in tomorrow’s Trench Cup final. With 7-9 county lads unavailable, the players chose to give the walkover on grounds of principle after their request for a refixture was rejected. The GAA’s player welfare attitude…

Like it or not, rightly or wrongly, Rory Gallagher has never been convicted in a court of law. So why does St Jarlath believe he has the authority to write to a GAA club and practically vet their appointment? And why hasn't he done likewise with Corduff if he feels so strongly?

An elderly Louth supporter made an approach on the pitch after the game tonight to say it was the best performance he’d seen from a Louth team since the 1957 All-Ireland final. Possibly an overstatement but he had tears in his eyes. Sport is a powerful thing. #heroesoneandall

The greatest day. Legends to a man. The Fitzer legacy. Sir Ger Brennan. Sam Mulroy. Peter Lynch. Bevan Duffy. Tears. From Carrick-on-Shannon and Thurles, hammerings, to the top of the Leinster. As John Mullane would say, I loves me county. ❤️🤍

FT - Donegal 1-23 Louth 0-18. A gallant effort by Ger Brennan's men, who just weren't as efficient as they needed to be. But what a season from these men. Our best championship display in 67 years. Louth and proud. ♥️♥️
