While I was at @harvardmed, my big brother would 🖊me from his jail cell. Nothing was more motivating and humbling... I was reminded of where+what I came from and how easily it could have gone the other way. His letters continue to help me almost a decade later. #MadTowntoHarvard

If I could only tell my 4 yr old self visiting my big brother in prison “one day you’ll be rejecting a full professor’s bullying over YOU writing too many high impact papers while being hood, brown, and fly while doing it.” My stripes were earned in a different way 💪🏽🏁

Academic Emails the Monday AM after Thanksgiving: “Hi, I hope you received some much needed rest and spent time with your family during the joyous holiday weekend. By any chance, did you also finish that *big* project we are working on? Cheers” @AcademicChatter #MedTwitter

I 1st met w/ my mentor @DrPaulNguyen in 2013 to talk about possibly doing research. He asked me what skills I had and I basically said “none... but I can learn em and I’m hungry.” We’ve had a great streak since. Don’t be afraid to mentor mentees that need mentoring #medtwitter

I recently had the privilege of presenting my ongoing research to my department. My favorite part of these talks is sharing the personal lessons that our patients, research, colleagues, friends, family and "process" teach us along the way. #medtwitter #MedEd

Looking forward to joining @univmiami @SylvesterCancer @UMiamiRadOnc where black lives matter more than just a hashtag. Can’t wait to serve and learn from South Florida. We WILL be addressing cancer disparities. Cc: @KobetzErin @a_dalpra @DrSDNimer @HenriFordMD @julio_frenk
