I’m proud of the campaign I ran despite the situation I faced, but where has it been reported in the media? It’s not like the safety of MPs hasn’t been of public interest or newsworthy. Yet with me, there evokes a deadly silence & women’s experiences are treated so differently.

Survivors of domestic abuse and violence are being locked out or pushed out, of our politics. My amendments to the Representation of the People Bill will address the gaps in the law - to protect our rights as survivors to stand free from harassment. 👇🏾

In absence of abolishing leasehold, it’s time for managing agents to be regulated independently. Repairs crises like the one that residents at Royal Captain Court endure, cannot just be accepted as normal.

This week, I held my weekly surgery at Chrisp Street, taking on cases from visa delays to housing. Speaking to market traders, I know that the ongoing lack of car park access is driving down business. I will be following up. I’m here to support constituents, so please get in

Instead of war, let’s have an agenda for health, education, public services, people and communities. Let’s have a social security system that stops people falling into poverty. If there’s money to be found for killing people, then there is money to be found for saving people.

In January 2025, Israel had denied it was holding Dr Husam Abu Safiya, only to confirm later that it had in fact detained him. Dr Abu Safiya’s life is now reported to be in immediate danger. The UK must demand that Israel release him, now.

I raised a point of order about the Palestine Action ban this week. With proscription clearly having a chilling effect on free speech, I asked the government to clarify what falls in the scope of the ban. This is something they have been unable/unwilling to do so far.

For thousands of leaseholders in Poplar and Limehouse, it’s same story: Service charges hiked astronomically with little transparency or accountability. Change cannot come sooner.

From Palantir to Cisco and more, the calls to end contracts with companies supplying technology used by Israel in its crimes against Palestinians are only growing. I’ve tabled this Parliamentary motion to call on the UK to take action now: edm.parliament.uk/early-day-moti…

🚨 One week only: 50% off my new book on the history of British South Asian political activism. South Asians were far more than passive victims of racism and colonialism. They organised, resisted, and helped shape history through collective action. manchesteruniversitypress.co.uk/9781526177582/

Ask any MP who keeps Parliament running and they will point at the cleaners, not the contractor. Thank you @ApsanaBegumMP for signing our letter. #StandWithCleaners (Signature no. 35)

Bangladesh pledged 3,000 midwife posts in 2010. This month it committed to deploy 25,000 midwives by 2030. A milestone made possible through Bangladesh’s government and support from Sweden, the UK, Canada, and the World Bank.
