- Emotional final day of Vera filming. Thanks to the whole team for letting me be a part of it. And for an amazing wrap party in the perfect Geordie location.
- No worries at all! I'm very happy to support Oxfam. And the only reason Vera ended up on TV was because the ITV books executive bought a copy of The Crow Trap in an Oxfam shop.
- Here it is! Found in the snow not far from where I was staying by sharp-eyed Rachel as she got off the school bus. It’s been run over so not much use, but glad to know it’s safe.
- 2000 people in Newcastle’s City Hall saying goodbye to Vera. The only place for a proper farewell.
- In Whitley, putting on my mask and a car drives past, window open. Guy shouts: 'Freedom day. Get off those masks.' This is NE England, more cases than anywhere. And my daughter's doing chemo. No freedom for her!
- For lovers of Shetland, the new series airs on Wednesday November 1st. I can’t wait!
- Lovers of #Vera , I'm delighted that the 50th anniversary ep on Sunday is an adaptation of my book The Darkest Evening. I've had sneak preview and love it. It's stormy and gothic and we find out more about Hector's awful family.
- Back in Shetland mainland. Had the front seat next to the pilot.
- But wonderful to catch up with this lovely pair when the rain stopped.

- Of course, I’m sad Vera is coming to an end, but what a ride it’s been! Thanks so much to the magnificent @BrendaBlethyn and the team.I’ve loved watching Brenda Blethyn as “Vera”, but this seems the right time to bow out with two more films still to be screened. She has put flesh on the bone of Ann Cleeves’ great character and brought a genuine humanity to a consistently good series! @AnnCleeves @BrendaBlethyn
- As we vaccinate our elderly and vulnerable, let's celebrate the Turkish scientists, the European manufacturer, the delivery drivers and of course our NHS: the admin staff, the cleaners who've prepared the space and all the medics who are working flat out.
- Just a little reminder that the new season of Shetland starts tomorrow on BBC 1. I've not seen scripts and have NO idea how it will end. Cannot wait.
