Unfortunately I can confirm the rumors going around today since I received "the email"...I don't want to make any comments other than I am exploring legal options in a couple of avenues. I will probably be deactivating this account for a variety of reasons soon. I always advocate

Gotta get to bed since we'll be up at 3 am to do another mission into #Melissa right before landfall in Jamaica tomorrow. Here's a video I took today going through the NE eyewall into the eye. I had to tilt the phone up to get a view of the eye because it was so cylindrical (not

Just landed after an absolutely insane flight with @NOAA_HurrHunter into #Melissa just before landfall in #Jamaica. I was processing the dropsonde data before it went out. When I saw the 113 m/s (219 knots) just above the surface I couldn't believe it. My display only goes to 100

Wild ride in Hurricane #Melissa today. My first time ever in a Category 5, and it was definitely the most turbulent I've ever experienced. I was processing the dropsonde data and sending it out - some of these are up there with about as strong as Atlantic hurricanes can get.

This is a video from our flight the other day into #Melissa as we were going through the eyewall into the eye. It gives you some idea of the level of turbulence and shows how awesome the pilots and crew are to keep the plane steady. Also wanted to give a shout out to the

This is bad news...the frog is starting to boil. I'm afraid it may take a couple missed recon flights with a hurricane approaching before people really appreciate what's being lost.

Morning all! I've been encouraged by the outpouring of support for all of us in NWS/NOAA. I wanted to specify a detail that I think is relevant from some conversations I've had. Most of us (at least at EMC) who were terminated were officially "probationary" because we are new

I've tried to stay fairly positive with recent messaging, but this is a direct attack that would cripple NOAA modeling capabilities and directly lead to more death and property loss if it is carried out. I definitely recommend calling your representatives ASAP to oppose this.

I'm pretty mentally exhausted by everything right now. One overarching theme of the NOAA/NWS probationary firings is chaos: -No advance warning this was coming (other than media rumors). -The email we received didn't go through the chain of command. Our supervisors didn't know

Surreal and sobering moment for me this afternoon. About to do a landfall mission on a rapidly intensifying major hurricane threatening Tallahassee, where I spent 7 years, got 3 degrees, met my wife, and had our first daughter. Please stay safe everyone!

The disparaging "learn to code" comments on some of my earlier Tweets are so funny. People don't realize that's literally what 90% of meteorological research is. I was actively writing code yesterday when I got that form email haha. OK, no more engaging with trolls.

Here is a video I took earlier as #NOAA42 crossed from the SW eyewall of #Michael into the eye. Incredible storm in so many ways.

Well after about 3 weeks of reinstatement, I, along with other probationary employees at NOAA, officially got "re-fired" today (6 weeks after the original firing) after a temporary restraining order was lifted by an appeals court earlier this week. What a wild and silly process
