NEW: @nbcwashington has learned 248 $500 citations have been issued by school bus stop sign cameras in DC since the program started in late April. Only 25 buses have the technology, meaning those buses see lots of violations. These buses mostly carry students with special needs

NEW: Metro releases video of rider who tried to jump faregate barrier at McPherson Sq Sat but fell to the platform below. The rider became wedged between the platform and end wall-had to be rescued by DC Fire crews. They described his injuries as critical. #wmata @nbcwashington

BREAKING - Metro GM @wmataGM is proposing a plan to open the system earlier on the weekends, and run service later as well. Under a new proposal, Metro would open at 6am Saturday and Sunday and run until 2am Friday and Saturday nights #wmata @nbcwashington
