A man has been jailed for a series of burglaries in South Somerset. James Perry, 49, of no fixed abode, Yeovil, pleaded guilty to a dwelling burglary and other offences and was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Thursday 11 June. ➡️ Read more: orlo.uk/Hg9hg

We have closed a stretch of the M5 motorway in both directions between junctions 23 (Dunball) and 22 (Edithmead) due to an incident on Newbridge Lane overbridge, East Huntspill. Police are on the scene and we would urge drivers to seek alternative routes.

We're sad to report that a man died in a two-vehicle collision on the A358 near Ilminster today (Sunday 14 June). His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them. The road was reopened at about 5.30pm. Witnesses can call 101 ref 5226163524

Fire investigation work is ongoing, but we're treating a fire in Glastonbury as deliberate at this stage. Caravans and a nearby wall were damaged in the incident in Beckery New Road at about 8pm yesterday (Sat 13 Jun). Witnesses call 101 ref 5226163150.
