After some light and easy conversion for the Nurglings and Brethren the Carnival Master posed a real challenge again. Inspired by images of classic circus ringmasters some kind of coat, epaulettes and a top hat seemed to be mandatory.
So I started again with another Poxwalker as the base model, which provided a coat and the proper nurglish look. Unfortunately the coat did look a lot like something out of a lab rather than a circus and so it was in dire need of an upgrade.
As I had tons of spare cultist champions from my Nurgle Renegades project the choice was easy and I chopped up one of the champions with sword and shotgun.
This way my model got a new back with epaulettes and a giant collar. Combined with a Necromancer head the Carnival Master showed some serious Riff Raff vibes as a member of the Mordheim group was quick to point out, but the conversion’s second stage lost this look again.
The choice of weapons wasn’t an easy one, but some sort of whip seemed fitting, while the other hand should get an acoustical megaphone.

Placed on top of the squelched Nurglings from the Lord of Contagion the first stage of my Carnival Master was complete:

For several weeks the warband leader had to remain in this condition on my shelf as I had neither time nor ambition for much hobby work, but I finally revisited him and continued my work.
The whip got bent into shape and I decided to give him an outstretched Plaguebearer arm instead of the megaphone. Then his facial transformation could begin. π
I clipped off the top of his head to glue a circular hat brim out of cardboard on it and sculpted the top hat with green stuff. While the green stuff was drying I took some scraps to sculpt an impressively pointed moustache and a complementary goatee. Now he looked way closer to the cover art of his warband’s chosen theme song. π
