Edoardo Zanetti: : The Land of Sumer and its Geographical Reconstruction
The oldest epigraphic sources in relation to hydraulics are the Sumerian ones, written at the end of the 3rd millennium. This is a vast documentation that reveals not only the existence of an extensive water network, but also which hydraulic works were in use and how they were administratively managed. The study of these texts makes it possible to reconstruct: the appearance and functional dynamics of the hydraulic system; the reconstruction of the hydraulic landscape; the reconstruction of mobility in relation to the canalization system.
