Stadia Maps uses a concept called Properties within their client dashboard to manage API keys and authentication. The sign-up is free for non-commercial and evaluation use, and a credit card is not required to begin.
Create a Stadia Maps Account #
To start the process, you will need a Stadia Maps account, this guide will walk you through the basics of getting that setup.
- Go to the Stadia Maps Client Dashboard and sign up for an account.
- Fill in the registration form and complete your registration.
- Once complete, sign in to view your Dashboard.
Create a New Property and API Key #
An API Key is associated with a Property, which allows you to manage different applications (e.g., a “Website” property and a “Mobile App” property) separately.
- On the dashboard, click the “Create a Property” button.
- Name the property with a descriptive name, for example “My Website Map”.
- Click “Create” to complete the property creation.
- After creating your property, look out for the “Authentication Configuration” section.
- Within this section, find the button labelled “Add API Key” and click on it.
- Your key will be generated and displayed on screen.
- Copy this key and add it within our settings under Maps > Settings > General > Stadia Maps Key
