Google Maps
The most accurate geocoding and autocomplete service available. Requires a Google API key with the Geocoding and Places APIs enabled.
Azure Maps
Microsoft's geocoding service through Azure. A solid alternative if you are already using the Azure ecosystem for your project.
Nominatim
The free, open source geocoding service powered by OpenStreetMap data. No API key required for basic usage.
LocationIQ
A reliable geocoding and autocomplete service with generous free tier limits. Works well as a lightweight alternative.

I chose WP Go Maps after trying more than 10 alternatives... it has tons of options that allow you to achieve almost anything related to maps. Their support is just as it should be: excellent.
I needed a good map plugin in a pinch. I found this one, set it up in minutes, upgraded to the Pro version and never looked back. That's all I could ever ask for in a plugin!
I ran into a few issues... I reached out to support and got a quick, helpful reply from Dylan. He guided me step by step through the possible causes... everything is now working perfectly. Such committed and knowledgeable support behind an already excellent plugin. Highly recommended!
I had initially been using it as a store locator for one of my clients but found that the amazing feature set also made for a good solution for a completely different use by a different client. The perfect solution for two clients.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about mapping engines in WP Go Maps.
Which map engine should I choose?
It depends on your needs. Google Maps is the best choice if you want Street View, satellite imagery, and the most polished experience. The other six presets, built on Leaflet and OpenLayers, are ideal if you want open source options with access to over 50 tile styles. The Zero Cost Mapping preset requires no API key at all.
Can I switch engines without losing my data?
Yes. You can switch between any of the seven engine presets at any time from the settings page. All of your markers, shapes, categories, and settings are fully preserved. Nothing is lost when you change engines.
Do I need an API key?
Only if you choose Google Maps. Google requires a valid API key with the Maps JavaScript API enabled. Several of the other presets offer free tiers, and the Zero Cost Mapping preset requires no API key at all so you can get started immediately.
What tile servers are available?
With OpenLayers you get access to tiles from OpenStreetMap, Azure/Bing Maps, MapTiler, Stadia Maps, LocationIQ, OpenFreeMap, and Caltopo. That adds up to over 50 unique tile styles you can use.
Which features differ between engines?
Google Maps includes Street View, full satellite imagery, and built in directions. The Leaflet and OpenLayers presets offer custom tile servers, custom map images, and zero cost options. Core features like markers, the store locator, shapes, and heatmaps work across all engines.
What address providers are supported?
WP Go Maps supports four address providers for geocoding and autocomplete: Google Maps, Azure Maps, Nominatim, and LocationIQ. You can use any provider with either map engine.
