The set up process should take a couple of minutes and here is how you go about it.<\/p>\n<h2>Set up Comcast on the iPhone mobile device<\/h2>\n<p>We will be using the POP email protocol to <a href=\"\/\/www.webdevelopersnotes.com\/download-comcast-email\" title=\"Instructions to download Comcast email using email clients\">download Comcast email<\/a> to the iPhone via the inbuilt <strong>Mail<\/strong> application. The iPhone will now start &#8216;looking up account information&#8217; for your Comcast email. Wait patiently for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the <a href=\"\/\/www.webdevelopersnotes.com\/what-is-pop\" title=\"Popular email protocol - POP or POP3 used by programs to transfer email to the local computer\"><strong>POP<\/strong><\/a> email protocol and provide the following information:\n<ul class=\"withbullets\">\n<li><strong>Incoming Mail Server<\/strong><br \/>Host Name: <span class=\"codeword\">mail.comcast.net<\/span><br \/>User Name: should be the Comcast username (the part before the @ sign in the email address)<br \/>Password: (should be there already)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Outgoing Mail Server<\/strong><br \/>Host Name: <span class=\"codeword\">smtp.comcast.net<\/span><br \/>(You can leave out the username and password in the outgoing section)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>That&#8217;s about it! Save the settings and check if you are able to send and receive messages.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Problem in sending Comcast email from the iPhone?<\/h2>\n<p>As mentioned above, we&#8217;ve <em>used POP to set up Comcast email on the iPhone<\/em> with the default SMTP (sending mail) port set to 25. This should work in most cases. If not, you would need to change it to 587 (select the account from &#8220;<em>Settings<\/em>&#8221; -&gt; &#8220;<em>Mail, Contacts, Calendars&#8230;<\/em>&#8221; and move to the &#8220;<em>Outgoing Mail Server<\/em>&#8221; section).<\/p>\n<p>FYI, problems in sending Comcast email from the iPhone may arise if you are not on the company&#8217;s network. In such cases, one needs to authenticate the outgoing server with the username and password and change the port to 587.
