UFH Opens Speech Therapy Clinic to Expand Community Healthcare Access
WATCH I The University of Fort Hare has officially opened its Speech Therapy Clinic in KuGompo , expanding access to free communication rehabilitation services for underprivileged communities while providing hands-on clinical training for future Speech Language Pathologists.
The state-of-the-art facility serves patients across all age groups, offering speech, language, voice and swallowing assessments and therapy. It also provides UFH students with valuable practical experience under professional supervision, helping to strengthen rehabilitation services in the Eastern Cape.
UFH Heritage Oversight Visit

Landiswa Mbilini’s Journey from Security Officer to Graduate
WATCH I From protecting the university by day to pursuing her dreams by night this is the inspiring story of Landiswa Mbilini, a proud University of Fort Hare student currently completing her BA Honours in African Languages
A full-time Security Officer, devoted mother of two, and determined scholar, Landiswa’s journey is one of resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. After years of putting her dreams on hold due to life’s responsibilities, joining UFH in 2020 reignited her passion for education and reminded her that it was never too late to begin again.
Balancing motherhood, demanding work shifts, teaching practice, and late-night study sessions, Landiswa refused to give up on herself. Through exhaustion, disappointment, and countless challenges, she carried one belief close to her heart: “Iphupha alifi umnikazi walo esaphila” a dream does not die while its owner is still alive.
Implementation of the UFH New Organogram
WATCH I The University of Fort Hare PME leadership team, led by Executive Director: People Management and Engagement, Ms Dumisile Nene, and Interim Director Mrs Ramabodu, is engaging staff through a consultative process aimed at reviewing and improving the University’s organisational structure. The review forms part of the institution’s broader renewal and governance agenda focused on strengthening operational efficiency, service delivery, and alignment with the University’s strategic priorities.
As the Executive Sponsor of the Organogram Review Process, Ms Nene reaffirmed leadership’s commitment to ensuring that the implementation of the new organogram is aligned with the strategic objectives and long-term vision of the University. She further assured staff that appropriate governance and oversight structures are in place to ensure the process remains fair, transparent, consultative, and consistent across the institution.
Nthabiseng Xelane I Finding Her Voice: A Story of Strength, Music, and Resilience
WATCH I Against all odds, she made it! Meet Nthabiseng Xelani, a BA Music student at the University of Fort Hare who refused to let epilepsy silence her dreams. As a vocal student, music was Nthabiseng’s identity, but living with epilepsy meant carrying a hidden fear. From the anxiety of stigma and judgment to the physical toll of seizures, her academic and musical journey became a quiet yet difficult battle.
With the unwavering support of her parents and her dedicated voice lecturer, Nthabiseng rebuilt her confidence, reclaimed her voice, and successfully completed her degree. Her graduation is a powerful reminder that disability does not mean inability, and that no condition should ever define your future.
