CCM Choirs and Orchestra join forces for Brahms' powerful Requiem

Event: March 4, 2025 7:30 PM

The CCM Concert Orchestra is joined by both the CCM Chamber Choir and the CCM Chorale, as well as guest ensemble Musica Sacra, for Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, one of the most beloved works in the canon. The concert, which also features a world premiere by CCM Composition student Siyuan Kang, takes place Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.

Structural engineering student explores better building materials

After earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering, working for several years in industry, and ultimately being laid off due to the pandemic, Kara Stall made the decision to return to academia to pursue her doctoral degree. Her journey to the University of Cincinnati was facilitated by her former undergraduate advisor connecting her with her current PhD advisor. Upon her arrival, she wasted no time getting involved in the UC community, serving as a TA for five courses in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management, serving on the executive board of the Civil Engineering Graduate Student Association, and was recently named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC's Bearcats Pantry and Resource Center opens new digs

UC officials opened new space for the Bearcats Pantry and Resource Center with a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The new pantry space is on the main floor of Stratford Heights, Building 16, on the Uptown campus.

UC students get a head start through Summer Bridge Program

The Dr. Edward N. Prather Summer Bridge Program was created more than 30 years ago at the University of Cincinnati to ensure academic preparedness for historically excluded students pursuing degrees in science and engineering. The program takes place over a six-week period during the summer before students enter college. Prior to the kickoff of their first year at UC, bridge students lives in on-campus dorms and take courses to prepare them for the College of Engineering and Applied Science curriculum.

Cincinnati's partnership with CPS put alumnus on path to success

As a student in the Cincinnati Public Schools system, a major partner of the University of Cincinnati, he realized there were opportunities and resources available to him that, if taken, would greatly impact his future. Now an alumnus of the UC College of Engineering and Applied Science, earning a degree in construction management, Hunter looks fondly upon his experience as a Bearcat. Currently, he works at Messer Construction Co. as an environmental health and safety coordinator.

CCM alumni advance to Met Opera's Laffont Competition Semifinals

The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition, one of the most prestigious singing competitions in the world, recently announced the full list of its national semifinalists. Of the 20 semifinalists, 5 of the singers hold degrees from the UC College-Conservatory of Music.
