Grab your passport and a bottle of Windex—it's time to head to Greece. If you're a rom-com fan, you probably have an emotional attachment to My Big Fat Greek Wedding (don't we all?) which means you're well aware that the latest installment—My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3—hits theaters on September 8, 2023. Following the 2002 film, along with its subsequent sequel in 2016, Nia Vardalos, John Corbett and the original cast of My Big Fat Greek Wedding have reunited once again. The franchise's third film chronicles yet another Portokalos family adventure…this time, in their native Greece.

Consider this your go-to guide for all things My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. Here, we share The Knot's official review of the movie, along with details on the trailer, the cast, and where to watch the movie when it premieres in theaters.

Before we share our official review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, allow us to first set the scene. In the original film, we watch Toula—a Greek woman—fall in love with Ian...who is famously not Greek. Amid their budding romance, Toula must find a way to convince her overbearing (but well-meaning) family to accept her new boyfriend, all while finding a greater appreciation for her heritage. Spoiler alert: The Portokalos' do eventually come around, and the lovebirds have a big, fat Greek wedding. This film will always live on in infamy, especially when it comes to iconic wedding movies. After all, there is a reason why we named Toula's ball gown as one of the most memorable movie wedding dresses of all time.

We reunited with our favorite fam again in 2016 for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which follows Toula and Ian's daughter Paris as she struggles to decide whether to move across the country for college or stay closer to home. Meanwhile, Toula's parents discover that their marriage license was never signed by their priest, meaning they were never legally wed. Together, the Portokalos crew joins forces to give their parents the *second* big, fat Greek wedding they deserve.

This brings us to 2023. In My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, we learn that the family patriarch, Gus, has passed away. Before his death, the Portokalos' received an invitation to attend a family reunion in the secluded Greek village where Gus grew up. His final wish was for his loved ones to attend the event in his honor and meet his childhood friends. Given her ailing mother's health, Toula takes on the responsibility of getting the (very large, and very loud) group overseas. Upon their arrival, they meet Victory, the village's quirky mayor who's dedicated to making the reunion come to fruition…even though the invitees are somewhat off-the-grid and hard to reach.

Despite the excitement of being in her father's hometown for the first time, Toula is quickly faced with the reality of how challenging it will be to fulfill his lofty final wishes. Meanwhile, Paris is unexpectedly brought face-to-face with a former flame and Aunt Voula is, well, acting like Aunt Voula. (Want some souvlaki?)

Here's the bottom line: Although the first masterpiece is hard to top, you're going to enjoy My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 if you loved the first two installments. It's hard not to feel like you're part of the Portokalos family while watching this film, especially if you've been invested since the very beginning. The latest movie is lighthearted, funny and touching; in other words, it's exactly what you'd expect from the franchise. It's the perfect flick for a date night at the movies, especially if you and your S.O. (or your besties) love a good rom-com. (Psst: If that sounds like you, we've got plenty more recs—consider us your own personal IMDB.) By the time My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is over, you're going to want to plan a getaway to Greece *and* give your parents a much overdue phone call.

Oh, and we'd be remiss not to mention that there is indeed another big, fat Greek wedding in this movie...but you'll have to watch to find out who it's for.
