Heather Bien is a contributing writer to The Knot and WeddingWire. She planned her intimate dinner party wedding in December of 2018 and loves to bring that same enthusiasm to writing about celebrations both big and small, timeless and nontraditional. Heather is based in Washington, DC where she resides in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. You can usually find her perfecting her latte recipe, snapping photos of the charming architecture around her neighborhood, hunting down the perfect antique find or planning her next weekend getaway.

Experience

As a child, Heather spent hours leafing through the pages of women’s lifestyle magazines and dreamt of a day when she’d see her own byline on beautifully curated articles. A couple of decades later, Heather now has several years of experience contributing content to a variety of lifestyle brands focused on design, decor, and weddings, and interviewing professionals in wedding and event planning, interior design, and the arts.

Heather also took that love of words and visuals to her work in marketing, where she manages a team of writers and graphic designers. Additionally, she writes about travel, weddings, entertaining, and home decor on her own lifestyle blog.

Education

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Heather majored in Art History, minored in Architectural History and still firmly believes Charlottesville, VA is the best place on earth. After college, Heather completed graduate coursework at Savannah College of Art and Design.
