New blank samples available for nitrofuran metabolites PTs

Given the increasing number of requests, Test Veritas has also decided to start making some blank samples for Veterinary Drug Residues available to testing laboratories.

This year, we made an effort to make this new service available for two PTs to search for nitrofuran metabolites :

• M4411 – Nitrofuran metabolites in swine gut (natural casing)
• H4505 – Nitrofuran metabolites in light honey

For both proficiency tests, a ‘pre-spiking’ blank sample, consisting of the same matrix as the PT before the addition of contaminants (as for the blank samples of the Trieste Project – Pesticide Residues line), will be made available to laboratories requiring it. It will be a product that can be purchased on request. Laboratories that prefer to continue using their own blank samples will not be obliged to use the blank sample provided by Test Veritas together with the corresponding proficiency test.

This is the beginning of a new approach, which was also made possible by the many responses we received to our last survey ‘Use of Blank Samples in Routine and PT’, which helped us to understand how difficult it sometimes is for a laboratory to find blank samples on the market, especially for particular matrices such as gut. We invite you to take a look at the results of this survey, published in our last newsletter, as we believe they can be valuable food for thought.

• Molecules under study: AOZ, AMOZ, SEM, AHD, DNSH. All the molecules will be present!
• Indicative concentrations: < 2 ppb
• The price is only 345,00€ for confirmatory methods or 309,00€ for screening methods.

OUR POINTS OF STRENGHT!

• With us the convenience doubles! For all the PTs that are part of Progetto Trieste it is possible to submit 2 sets of results: with just one subscription you can receive in the Final Report the evaluation of 2 laboratory technicians, or 2 different techniques.
• Separate evaluation data for screening and confirmatory methods, with the assigned value deriving only from quantitative confirmatory results. This feature of our PTs respects the requirement of UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17043:2010 to use fit-for-purpose methods of evaluation, makes the assigned value more reliable and the assessment more valid.
• Even if you are using a screening method, the PT simulates what you would do in the routine (comparing your results with confirmatory ones). The semi-quantitative (< or >) screening results receive evaluations provided with dedicated criteria. The quantitative screening and confirmatory results are evaluated through z-score.
