Let’s say you need to install a Kubernetes<\/b> cluster in your organization for development and testing purposes. Minikube<\/a>\u00a0looks like a perfect fit for that job. It was specially designed for users looking to try out Kubernetes or develop with it day-to-day. It runs a single-node Kubernetes cluster inside a VM on a standalone machine. So, you found a server for that, followed the insulation guide<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0install a virtual box with Minikube<\/b>\u00a0on it and now you can easily deploy pods to the K8s cluster with kubectl<\/b>\u00a0from that server. In order to be able to do the same remotely from your laptop you have to do some extra movements:<\/p>\n

1.Install<\/a> kubectl<\/b>\u00a0on your laptop if you don’t have it.<\/p>\n

2. Copy .minikube <\/b>folder from the server with Minikube <\/b>to your laptop (e.g. to \/Users\/fedor\/work\/minikube)<\/p>\n

3. Update clusters<\/b>, contexts<\/b> and users <\/b>sections in your kubectl <\/b>config file on your laptop ($HOME\/.kube\/config) with the following content<\/p>\n

apiVersion: v1\r\nclusters:\r\n- cluster: \u00a0 \r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 insecure-skip-tls-verify: true\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 server: https:\/\/YOUR_SERVER:51928\r\n\u00a0 name: minikube\r\ncontexts:\r\n- context:\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 cluster: minikube\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 user: minikube\r\n\u00a0 name: minikube\r\ncurrent-context: minikube\r\nkind: Config\r\npreferences: {}\r\nusers:\r\n- name: minikube\r\n\u00a0 user:\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 client-certificate: \/Users\/fedor\/work\/minikube\/client.crt\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 client-key: \/Users\/fedor\/work\/minikube\/client.key<\/pre>\n
4. Go to the server and stop Minikube<\/b> with<\/p>\n
minikube stop<\/pre>\n
5. Forward a port for the Minikube <\/b>VM from 8443 guest port to 51928 host port.<\/p>\n

6. Start Minikube<\/b> with<\/p>\n
minikube start<\/pre>\n
7. Check from your laptop that it works:<\/p>\n
kubectl get pods<\/pre>\n
