{"id":3393,"date":"2018-01-26T17:15:59","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T15:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/?p=3393"},"modified":"2018-01-26T10:25:59","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T08:25:59","slug":"using-office365-mail-calendar-linux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/linux\/using-office365-mail-calendar-linux\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Office365 Mail and Calendar in Linux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For some reason, if your school or workplace is using Microsoft Office365\/Outlook for all communication, you can configure your Linux e-mail client to support most of those features such as e-mail, calendar, and contacts working. Sometime back, support for Microsoft Exchange-based services was very buggy in open-source e-mail clients like Thunderbird and Evolution. But they have come a long way since then. Here are the steps I followed to get my University e-mail working in Evolution.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 1: <\/b>First install the software needed.<\/p>\n<p>sudo apt-get install evolution evolution-ews<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 2: (Optional) <\/b>If you are not using a GNOME-based Desktop Enivronment you need to install following dependencies as well. (For example, I&#8217;m using XFCE with i3WM)<\/p>\n<p>sudo apt-get install gnome-online-accounts gnome-control-center<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 3: <\/b>Then start the gnome-contol-center. If you&#8217;re not on GNOME, you might have to trick the Desktop to make it believe you&#8217;re on GNOME like this:<\/p>\n<p>env XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME gnome-control-center <a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2018-01-25_18-05-59.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3396 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2018-01-25_18-05-59.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"773\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2018-01-25_18-05-59.png 773w, https:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2018-01-25_18-05-59-300x100.png 300w, https:\/\/www.systemcodegeeks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2018-01-25_18-05-59-768x256.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 773px) 100vw, 773px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 4: <\/b>Click on Online Accounts and add your Microsoft Exchange details. Add an identity.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 6: <\/b>In Receiving e-mail section, use https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/EWS\/Exchange.asmx as the Host URL.
