I like to use Cygwin <\/a>for having a bash shell on a windows machine. In combination with Console2<\/a> you have a powerful command-line tool for windows. I\u2019d like to describe how to install Cygwin and Console2 under windows 7 (I think this instruction works on Windows XP, too) and how to embed Cygwin in Console2. I used for Cygwin version 1.7.17-1 and for Console2 version 2.00b148-Beta_32bit.<\/p>\n

Cygwin Installation<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Download setup.exe.<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Double click on setup.exe starts the installation.<\/li>\n
  3. Follow the set up instruction. As installation location I use c:\\cygwin.<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Go to c:\\cygwin<\/em> and run Cygwin.bat <\/em>for setting up Cygwin user home etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Console2 Installation<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. Download zip file.<\/a><\/li>\n
    2. Unzip it into installation location.<\/li>\n
    3. Start Console2 with a double click on Console2.exe.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      How to embed Cygwin in Console2<\/h2>\n
        \n
      1. Open Console2.<\/li>\n
      2. Go to Edit -> Settings.<\/em><\/li>\n
      3. Go to\u00a0 Tab<\/em><\/li>\n
      4. In field title <\/em>insert for example bash<\/em>. It is the name of the first tab in Console2.<\/li>\n
      5. In field Shell <\/em> you have to insert C:\\cygwin\\bin\\bash.exe \u2013login -i<\/em> (Don\u2019t forget c:\\cygwin <\/em> is your installation folder).<\/li>\n
      6. In field Startup dir <\/em>you can insert C:\\cygwin\\home\\user.name. <\/em>This folder is used at every Console2 start.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
