License Options, Rights, & Restrictions

Music Licensing Made Simple

Two options. No tiers, no small print designed to confuse and confound. Just a free licence with a simple credit requirement, and a paid licence without one. Both give you lifetime commercial use rights and personal copyright support if anything ever goes sideways.

What you can do with either licence

Both licences cover commercial and non-commercial use across physical and digital projects. If it's a creative project, it's almost certainly covered:

  • YouTube videos and Shorts
  • TikTok, Instagram, and social media content
  • Films, documentaries, and cinema
  • TV and radio
  • Podcasts and audio dramas
  • Video games and apps
  • Livestreams on Twitch, YouTube, and similar
  • Advertising and marketing materials
  • Business presentations
  • Theatre and live performance
  • Background and hold music
  • Escape rooms (yes, really)
  • Pretty much anything else

You can also edit, cut, pitch-shift, slow down, speed up, or otherwise manhandle the tracks to suit your needs. Make them your own — that's what they're there for.

What you can't do

A short list, and none of it should come as a surprise:

  • You can't redistribute the music as standalone audio — on Spotify, iTunes, or anywhere else. I already publish it myself, and stores don't tend to look kindly on that sort of thing anyway.
  • You can't sublicence it. New licences come from here, not from you.
  • You can't claim ownership of the music, altered or otherwise. Don't be cheeky.
  • You can't register it through Content ID systems on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or similar. This one makes me genuinely sad every time someone tries it.
  • You can't claim trademark or service mark rights over the music within an end product.
