Tin and Tim’s Spelling Day
By Ma. Jennyrose D. Solis

In a neat school, clean

and bright,
Tin and Tim felt pure
delight.
Their classroom shone, so
fresh and neat,
A place where learning felt so
sweet.

Their teacher, Miss May, smiled

so wide,
"Let's have a contest— spell
with pride!"
Tim was keen, he tried his
best,
He spelled each word and
passed the test!
Tin stood up, her turn was
near,
She spelled each word loud
and clear.
A sudden wind blew with
might,
The spelling cards took
sudden flight!
"Oh no!" cried Tim, "What
will we do?"
Tin was keen—she had a
clue!
Her lean frame moved with
grace and speed,
To gather cards—a noble
deed.
Some landed on a rear
seat there,
Others in a deep corner,
wide and rare.
Tin climbed the steps, big
and wide,
Her lean arms stretched
from side to side.
She found the cards, both
low and steep,
Some were neat, some
buried deep.
One card hid near the rear
door,
Tin reached again and
searched some more. At
last, she held the missing
prize,
And joy lit up her
teacher’s eyes.
Miss May clapped, "That's
so grand!
Helping friends, you
understand."
Because Tin helped, the
contest went on, Cheers
rang out when spelling was
done!
But who would
win? What would
they say?
Would Tin or Tim
take the prize
today?
1. Where does the
story take place?

in a neat, clean,
and bright school
2. Who are the
main characters in
the poem?
Tin, Tim, and their
teacher, Miss May
3. How do you
think Tim felt
when he passed
the test?
proud/happy
4. Have you ever

What did you learn from
the poem “Tin and Tim’s
